Frequently Asked Questions

What is Neo Noble: Shattered Souls?

Neo Noble: Shattered Souls is a 1v1 expandable card game where each player builds a custom deck (or uses a preconstructed deck) before dueling their opponent.
Set in a dark fantasy world, you’ll command fractured spirits across three planes of Limbo (the zones where spirits battle) and take turns outplaying your opponent through careful timing, positioning, and resource control.
The first player to reap four of their opponent's souls wins the duel!

Duration: 15–30 minutes on average
Age: 13+

What separates Neo Noble from other TCG/CCGs?

Neo Noble is a creature battler with simple interactions, low numbers, and high-stakes decisions.
Mechanics
Battle-focused: No traditional spells, items, or support types—every card enters battle.
Layered tactics: Stack up to four spirits per lane; both players fight to keep their top (active) spirit in place.
Player-controlled resources: Manage resources on your terms with multiple options to channel and draw cards.
Fast win condition: Win by overpowering your opponent four times—no tracking damage or life points.
Flavor
Original dark fantasy IP: A focused yet expansive setting where each soul's ultimate fate is laid bare.
Mature tone: Unfiltered themes of karma, guilt, and redemption take center stage.
Community-driven: Built by indie devs who listen, with plans for players to help shape major story and character arcs.

Is Neo Noble suitable for kids?

Neo Noble is intended for a teen and adult audience (we suggest 13+).
The game features some mature themes such as partial nudity, non-gory violence, and heavy symbolism, so it may not be appropriate for young children.

How do I learn to play Neo Noble?

You can start with our How to Play page for the complete ruleset to familiarize yourself with the game.
Neo Noble's rules are kept digital so we can update them as the game evolves, and you will always be reading the latest version.

How will Neo Noble be released?

Neo Noble is planned for both digital and physical release.
We are aiming to launch an initial run of around 100 unique cards that support four preconstructed decks, with another 100–200 supplemental cards planned alongside that foundation.
There is no release date scheduled yet. We are currently testing internally with a custom dueling engine and Tabletop Simulator to refine gameplay and balance before any physical run.
A Kickstarter campaign will be announced well in advance. Stay tuned on
Discord for news and updates!

Will there be organized play or tournaments?

Yes. Organized play is planned, with competitive play focused primarily online.
We are intentionally aiming for smaller, controlled releases first so we can iterate quickly and make sure the experience is solid before expanding.
During beta and after launch, most events will be digital, with scheduled tournaments and structured play. The physical release will be geared first toward casual kitchen-top play.

Does Neo Noble use AI-generated content?

Yes, during early concept exploration and internal prototyping.
Final card art and final content are human-made, and we'll be transparent about where and why AI tools are used.

Why is the card art cropped vertically?

Neo Noble uses a tall portrait frame for hand and tabletop clarity, while creating a distinct, memorable look.
In-hand (for many players), fanned cards show the character’s artwork and cost at a glance. In gameplay, the vertical frame keeps cards player-oriented across the table.
During development (and even early launch), you may notice some variation in art style across the initial cards. That’s intentional: we’re testing a few dark fantasy approaches to learn what players connect with most before we lock the long-term baseline.
What to expect over time
We’ll work toward a more unified art direction as the card pool grows.
Some Nobles, decks, and alternate art themes may intentionally lean into different looks—so long as they still feel like Neo Noble's dark fantasy afterlife setting.
